PASDB's EDUCATION
PROGRAM
Through its program “A Schoolbag of Hope”, linked to the education of underprivileged people, PASDB:
- sends or sends back to school young orphans and able-bodied or handicapped children from families living in absolute poverty. Schooling fees are paid for by PASDB until at least the completion of primary school (5 years).
- assists organizations or specialized institutes, which take these children's education in charge
(for example the Mary Chapman School for deaf children of Yangon). In that case, our support consists mainly in buying food or equipment and partially taking charge of teacher’s
wages.
Currently several thousand children either well and able or disabled (3800 orphans, around 400 deaf or
partially deaf) are benefiting from our aid.
“The Schoolbag of Hope” is also able to support some of these
children’s households by providing them with the bare necessities in terms of food (mainly rice), access to basic medical care even restoring their huts.
As a rough guide, the average cost of one school year for one child amounts to €45, i.e. no more than €5 a month!
